The men’s basketball team isn’t the only team entering the season as champions. The women’s basketball team is entering the 2016-17 season as the back-to-back defending ECAC Division III Metro/Upstate champions.
The back-to-back defending champs will face off against Kean University on Tuesday, Nov. 15; tipoff is set to start at 6 p.m. inside the West Quad building on campus.
The Bulldogs ended last season on a high note finishing with a 21-8 record. Coach Alex Lang picked up his 200th win in his 14th season as head coach of the women’s basketball program. He joins 16 other head coaches in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association to reach the 200 win mark.
Brooklyn entered the ECAC tournament as the #1 seed and hosted #4 Centenary College (New Jersey) in the semi-finals. After their victory over Centenary College, the Bulldogs played #3 College of Staten Island in the ECAC Metro/Upstate championship finals. Brooklyn kept the title in Flatbush as they defeated the Dolphins, 59-55, being crowned back-to-back champions. Captain Karen Mak (#5) was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player, putting up 17 points, 8 steals, and 4 assists in the finals match.
